I was checking through the videos from the aftermath of the London seesmic meetup last week (couldn’t go due to lack of cash!) and happened to hear a guy mention he invented the Cybercafe.

Turns out the guy in question is Ivan Pope, who is indeed inventor of the term ‘Cybercafe’, along with a string of other amazing achievements including the first piece of art using HTML and the first domain registrar. Made me feel very humble indeed!

I took the opportunity to email him across a copy of the organic cafe/coworking concept I have been working on. The document is a couple of years old now but I thought it would be excellent to get his input before I rewrite it. I’ve been spending the last few weeks since the holiday period really thinking about what I want to achieve in both the short and long term, and really this is it. It’s been on hold for a while (see my first blog post), but I feel it’s now time to realise this dream.

Re-reading the document made me laugh a bit as I’ve firmed up the proposition a lot since it was written, so I’m looking forward to digging in. I’m thinking of producing something in more leaflet/DTP form to outline the concept to prospective customers/members and investors. Ivan gave me some good pointers which I am extremely grateful for, and he likes the idea which is fantastic. Now all I have to do is pull my finger out and finally get this document updated and network like crazy to find some funding so I can build some!!!
